Our Destination Sydney program offers students the opportunity to create their own unique journey, right here in the city of Sydney. With a vast range of options to choose from, students will be able to create a program that caters to all their needs, wants, goals and outcomes.

Small, self-made teams are accompanied by a teacher and an Urban Challenge guide on their journey through the city while they embark on urban-inspired activities that incorporate the three main components of the program: expedition, service and adventure.

Participants must work together to take actual responsibility for their own journey, including managing money, transport, accommodation, activity bookings and meals. In addition to their pre-program planning work, each team member will take on an integral role that contributes to the running of the team such as Team Leader, Treasurer or Communicator.

With an array of options for students to choose from, teams will be able to create an experience that immerses them in the culture of Australia’s biggest city and allows them to explore a little bit further. From Palm Beach in the north to the Royal National Park in the south, Bondi Beach in the east to Sydney Olympic Park in the west - the Destination Sydney program hopes to open student’s minds to the world of possibilities Sydney has to offer.

For those at home wanting to keep track of what our teams are up to, we have an interactive website where parents and caregivers are given the chance to participate in challenges or check out our team’s daily blogs and photos as they are uploaded.

Teams can create a program spanning anywhere from 1 day to 10 days. Held in school holidays, we’re set-up to run the program for schools during December 2020 and January 2021. We also plan to run again in the middle of 2021 in the July school holidays.

Our amazing Urban Challenge team and incredible partner organisations are the people who will work with your students to make their program successful. Our established relationships with activity and accommodation providers such as YHA, Manly Surf School and Blackwater Bay Dragon Boat Club, ensure your students will experience the best of Sydney in a safe and structured way.

The Urban Challenge will facilitate discussions with each team regarding personal and shared equipment for their proposed journey. Each team will be issued with Opal cards for the unlimited use of trains, ferries and buses, ID lanyards, team iPad and smart phone, treasurer’s wallet and monies, hygiene and sun safe equipment and are given full responsibility for the care and ownership of this equipment for the duration of their program.

We are confident that our program will be able to offer students the student-led adventure they are looking for. With 25 years’ experience in delivering our unique urban program to thousands of school students each year, we are positive that Destination Sydney will open student’s eyes to the possibilities of Sydney and leave them with memories that will last forever.

We’d love to talk with you, understand your requirements and design a program that suits.
